&uot;We had 10 young men from different parts of North Carolina who came together as a team and played extremely well,&uot; he added. &uot;It was good to have this opportunity and to give exposure to Hertford County High School.&uot;

The head coach for North Carolina’s team was Rich Sizemore of T.C. Roberson High School in Asheville. Simmons said both he and Sizemore took the approach that they wanted to have fun and win.

&uot;We both considered ourselves to be head coaches,&uot; Simmons said. &uot;Coach Sizemore was in charge of the offense while I was in charge of defense.&uot;
