Pendleton welcomes ‘new’ postmaster

PENDLETON – The Pendleton Post Office will soon have a new postmaster.

Oscar B. Spaulding will take over operation of the Pendleton Post Office, Pendleton, NC, as &uot;Postmaster for a day&uot; on March 4. Spaulding, a retired principal, will oversee letter carriers as they prepare to make their rounds, serving customers in the lobby and on the telephone and otherwise spend the day in the busy shoes of Officer in Charge Pamela Williams.

&uot;Spaulding will make an excellent Postmaster for a Day,&uot; Williams said. &uot;He will do a great job in providing a excellent service to his customers, and I am sure his employees will enjoy working with him for the day.&uot;

Spaulding was chosen for this honor because he is well known in the community.

Although there will be a change at the top, Spaulding promises that something’s will never change: &uot;A stamp will cost 37 cents,&uot; he said.
