Betty McNair

ROCKY MOUNT – Betty McNair, 49, died December 2, 2003, at Nash General Hospital.

A funeral was conducted Monday at H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Rocky Mount. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Nashville.

Noyes Daughtry

AULANDER – Noyes Alfred Daughtry, 74, a native of Hertford County, died December 6, 293, at his residence.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Zion Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Elbert Lee. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., Aulander, is in charge.

Daughtry was an site attendant for the Landfill. He was a member of Zion Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Christlee Daughtry; two sons, Noyes Daughtry Jr. of Suffolk, Va., and Johnny Daughtry of the home; three daughters, Delores Mitchell of Aulander, Gloria Smith of Ahoskie and Lillian Cherry of Aulander; two brothers, Edgar Lee Daughtry of Aulander and Robert Joel Daughtry of Paterson, N.J.; and four sisters, Dorothy Belfield of Kelford, Marion Taylor of Edison, Mildred Howard of Paterson and Lucinda Lee of Ahoskie.

Elliott Stephen IV

WOODLAND – Elliott Sterling Stephen IV, 20, a native of Norfolk, Va., died December 6, 2003, at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mill Branch Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Lynn Bradley. Burial will be in the Stephen family cemetery. Wilder’s Funeral Home, Aulander, is in charge.

He is survived by his parents, Elliott and Beulah Stephen of the home.

Dora Worrell

SUFFOLK, Va. – Dora Worrell, 92, a native of Southampton County, died December 3, 2003 in Nansemond Pointe Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

A funeral was conducted Monday in First Baptist Church, Mahan Street, by the Rev. Steven G. Blunt. Interment was in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home, was in charge.

She was retired from Planters Peanut Co. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Mahan Street, and a member of the Missionary Circle and Lily of the Valley club.

Survivors include two daughters, Virgie W. Sandifer and Barbara W. Frier, both of Suffolk; two sisters, Maggie Riddick of Franklin and Cora Hill of Murfreesboro; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Burden Gatling Jr.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Burden R. &uot;Junior&uot; Gatling Jr., 75, a native of Bertie County, died December 4, 2003 at Maryview Medical Center.

A graveside service was conducted Monday at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth, by the Rev. F.R. Williams. Corprew Funeral Home was in charge.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Gray, Patricia Holley and Ramona Cherry; a son, Tony Gatling; four sisters, Beaulah Ballard of North Carolina, Margarette Shepard, Maggie Passmore and Dorothy Johnson; a brother, Rudolph Gatling; and several grandchildren.

Glenda L. Vick

CONWAY – Glenda Gail Lanier Vick, 58, a native of Northampton County, died December 6, 2003, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk, Va.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Zion United Methodist Church by the Rev. Lee Pittard. Burial will be in the Milwaukee Cemetery. The family has requested that anyone wishing to share a memorial gift, please do so to the Conway-Severn Squad. Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc., Conway, is in charge.

Mrs. Vick had been a legal secretary for Mr. Edgar Martin, Attorney, in Conway and had also worked as a nurses assistant at Hampton Woods in Jackson. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Vick; a daughter, Tammy Lynn Vick of the home; two stepsons, Joseph Vick of Boykins and Jonathan Vick of Murfreesboro; her mother, Selma Johnson Lanier of Conway; two sisters, Connie Troutman of Potecasi and Sheryl Bridgers of Conway; and four grandchildren.
