Edna E. Felton

EURE – Edna Earl Perry Felton, 78, a native of Chowan County, died November 30, 2003, in Down East Health and Rehab, Gatesville.

A graveside service was conducted Wednesday in Eure Christian Church Cemetery by the Rev. Gilbert Crawford. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, was in charge.

Mrs. Felton was a former nurse’s aide at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, she had been a bus driver for the Gates County School System, and was known in the community for her years of seamstress work. She was a member of Eure Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband, Elmore I. Felton; three daughters, Shirley Felton Luter of Suffolk, Freda Felton Crawford of Jamestown, and Jan Felton McGahee of Suffolk; a sister, Doris P. Morgan of Corapeake; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Dorothy S. Harrell

GOLDSBORO – Dorothy Hall Stallings Harrell, 84, a native of Durham County, died December 1, 2003, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A funeral was conducted Wednesday at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. T.C. West and the Rev. McGee. Burial was at Pineview Cemetery near Seven Springs. Memorials may be made to Woodland United Methodist Church, c/o Nancy Smith, Kator Dunn Road, Albertson, NC 28508 or to New Hope United Methodist Church, 200 E. New Hope Road, Goldsboro, NC 27534. Seymour Funeral Home was in charge.

Mrs. Harrell and her husband served churches in the North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church for 38 years.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Haywood L. Harrell; a daughter, Genette H. Tate of Pink Hill; sons, Linwood Eugene Harrell of Fuquay-Varina and Ernest Simpson Harrell of Snow Hill; four sisters, Helon S. Hayes of Raleigh, Virginia S. Taylor of Monument, Colo., Blanche Berner of Cordova, Tenn., and Rebecca Coleman of Dunn; a brother, George Patrick Stallings of White Bear Lake, Minn; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Jerome Bowser

ROANOKE RAPIDS – Jerome Bowser, 50, died December 2, 2003, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. H.D. Pope Funeral Home is in charge.

Nealie Parker

ROXOBEL – Nealie Bracy Parker, 87, a native of Northampton County, died December 1, 2003, at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sandy Run Baptist Church by the Rev. David Rimel. Burial will be in the Roxobel-Kelford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sandy Run Baptist Church Building Fund. Massey Funeral Home, Aulander, is in charge.

Mrs. Parker was a member of Sandy Run Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Bracy of Spring Lake; and two sisters, Ruth Parker of Rich Square and Virginia Wise of Suffolk, Va.

Sherbia J. Watford

COLERAIN – Sherbia Jean Watford, died December 1, 2003, at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Reynolds Funeral Home, Ahoskie, by the Rev. Nathaniel Thompson. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mrs. Watford was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, Colerain.

Survivors include two daughters, Sherron and Sheala Watford, both of New York City, N.Y.; a sister, Elizabeth Bailey of Hampton, Va.; and three grandchildren.

Raymond Freeman Sr.

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Raymond Irving &uot;Red&uot; Freeman Sr., a native of Powellsville, died November 30, 2003, at his residence.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church Powellsville. Burial will be in the White family cemetery. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Freeman was a member of First Baptist Church Powellsville.

Survivors include his wife, Pattie Flood Freeman; a son, Raymond Irving Freeman Jr. of Aulander; five daughters, Joyce Ann Jenkins of Ahoskie, Lenise Jovan Cowling of Newport News, Amanda Rose Freeman, Tiffiney Richardson and Jacqueline Richardson, all of Chesapeake; two brothers, Coy Freeman of Powellsville and Kelly Freeman of Philadelphia, Pa.; two sisters, Rosa Greene of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Johnnie Ruth Brown of Powellsville; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
