Rich Square pair arrested

RICH SQUARE – Two Rich Square residents were arrested here Saturday night during a drug raid on their home at 348 Depot Street.

Malikia Monique Boone, 24, and Oliver Lee Hockaday, 28, were arrested around 10:30 p.m. where officers with the Rich Square Police Department and Northampton County Sheriff’s Office conducted the raid.

Rich Square Police Chief Bo Roye said the raid was predicated upon a tip received by his department that, &uot;they (Boone and Hockaday) were selling marijuana at the residence.&uot;

After obtaining a search warrant, the lawmen discovered more than just marijuana as a quantity of cocaine was also found.

Boone and Hockaday were both charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sale and deliver a Schedule 6 controlled substance (marijuana) and possession of a Schedule 2 controlled substance (cocaine). Additionally, the pair was charged with maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were placed in the Northampton County Jail, each under a $2,000 bond.

Aiding Chief Roye in the drug raid were Rich Square Police Officer Kevin Byrd along with Captain George Reed and deputies Greg Colson, Buford White and Kenneth Melton, all of the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office.
