Dollie J. King

WINDSOR – Dollie Jarriel King, 85, a native of Lyons, Ga., died October 11, 2003, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She was the widow of Robert King.

A funeral was conducted Monday at Edgewood Baptist Church by the Rev. Chris Lee. Walker Funeral Home was in charge.

Mrs. King was a homemaker, prior to moving to Windsor she was a Girl Scout leader, involved in Sun Beams, Gardening Club and Eastern Star. She was also a member of Edgewood Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Joanne Harvey of Ormand Beach, Fla.; a son, Dan King of Edenton; two brothers, Remer Jarriel of Charleston, S.C., and Clinton Jarriel of Lyons; three sisters, Phyllis Smith of Columbia, S.C., Frances O’Neal of Augusta, Ga., and Mozell DuBose of Savannah; and two grandchildren.

Garland C. Speight Sr.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Garland Cleon Speight Sr., 88, a native of North Carolina, died October 9, 2003 in a local hospital.

The family will received friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, Sunday from 5 to 6 p.m. Mr. Speight will be taken by Miller Funeral Home in Gatesville, for a church funeral Monday at 2 p.m. in Savages United Methodist Church, Gates, by the Rev. Grace Dill. Burial was be in Gatesville Cemetery.

Speight retired from Norfolk & Southern Railroad as a conductor after 30 years of service. He was a member of the United Transportation Union for 45 years, the Gates County Hunt Club and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

Survivors his wife, Joan Bellamy Speight; a daughter, Maxine Speight Nye of Norfolk; a son, Garland C. Speight Jr. of New Jersey; two sisters, Alice Clark of California and Wilma Holt, Raleigh; a brother, Willis Burgess of North Carolina;

three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Wright Raynor

NORFOLK, Va. – Wright “Dick” Raynor, 80, a native of Windsor, died October 9, 2003. He was the widower of Rosa E. Raynor.

A service will be conducted at noon Wednesday at The House of Prayer For All People. Burial will be at Roosevelt Memorial Cemetery. Graves Funeral Home is in charge.

Raynor retired from the Naval Supply Center after 30 years of government services.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Hatcher and Theresa Collick; a brother, Joshua Raynor; 14 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.

Joseph D. Miller

COLERAIN – Joseph Daniel Miller, died October 12, 2003, at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mark Baptist Church, Colerain, by the Rev. Lloyd Gatling. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Miller was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lula Raynor Miller; three sons, Joseph Earl Miller of Baltimore, Md., Linton Rome Miller of Windsor and Rickey McNeal Miller of Murfreesboro; one daughter, Betty Miller Lee of Colerain; four sisters, Mildred Morris, Lillie M. Stanley, Jeanette Ellis and Alma Grey Miller, all of Baltimore; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Letiesha C. Perry

COLERAIN – Letiesha Carlice Perry, died October 12, 2003, at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Wynns Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Thomas E. Lee. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Miss Perry was a member of Wynns Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include her parents, Judy White Perry and Robert Perry, both of Colerain; one sister, Kiesha; and one brother, Antonio.
