Clayton Williams

RICH SQUARE – Clayton Williams, 39, a native of Northampton County, died September 14, 2003 at his residence.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Chapel Hill Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Hunter’s Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Williams was an automotive body repair man at Rich Square Auto and a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Clayton D. Williams of Woodland; two daughters, Ashley M. Forrest of Pendleton; and Melissa Vaughan of Paterson, N.J.; his parents, James and Peggy Williams of Rich Square; three brothers, James D. Williams of Murfreesboro, Louis Williams of Durham and McCoy Williams of Dover, N.J.

Cleveland Earley

WOODLAND – Cleveland Early, 68, a native of Northampton County, died September 12, 2003, at Pitt Memorial Hospital.

A funeral was conducted Wednesday at Second Baptist Potecasi. Burial was in Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery. Hunter’s Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, was in charge.

Earley was a truck driver and a member of Second Baptist Potecasi.

Survivors include six sons, Franklin Earley and Cardell Earley, both of Hampton, Va., Melvin Earley of Newport News, Va., Thornton Earley of Colerain, Gary Grant of Alexandria, and Ronald &uot;Red&uot; Powell of Ahoskie; four daughters, Christine Coats of Lewiston, Laura Jean Earley of Woodland, Sandy Earley of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Tashia Vinson of Murfreesboro; four brothers, Lloyd Earley and William Earley, both of Woodland, Lenwood Earley of Brooklyn and Thomas Earley of Rich Square; three sisters, Virginia Eason of Woodland, Lillie Perry of Pawling and Emily Saunders of Poughkeepsie; 21 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

William E. Mizelle Sr.

HARRELLSVILLE – William Elwood Mizelle Sr., 92, a native of Bertie County, died September 15, 2003, at Guardian Care Nursing Home of Ahoskie. He was the widower of Mary Winborne Mizelle.

A graveside funeral was conducted Wednesday at Harrellsville Cemetery by the Rev. Hugh Mizelle and the Rev. Bob Johnson. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Harrellsville United Methodist Church or to Christian Harbor Baptist Church. Walker Funeral Home was in charge.

Mizelle was a farmer and a member of Harrellsville United Methodist Church. He served in the Army during World War II.

Survivors include a son, William E. &uot;Billy&uot; Mizelle Jr. of Harrellsville; and two grandchildren.

Ruby A. Mitchell

NEW YORK, NY – Ruby Ann Mitchell, a native of Bertie County, died September 13, 2003, at Mt. Sinai Medical Center, New York.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wynns Grove Baptist Church, Colerain, by the Rev. Thomas Lee. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Survivors include two sisters, Retha White of Powellsville and Cora Morris of Rocky Mount.

Agnes J. Story

FRANKLIN, Va. – Agnes Johnson Story, 86, a native of Como, died September 15, 2003, at the East Pavilion. She was the widow of Wilson P. “Buggs” Story.

A funeral was conducted Wednesday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Rev. Kenneth Williams. Burial was in Mount Horeb Cemetery.

Mrs. Story was retired from Apollo Plastics.

Survivors include two sons, Wilson P. Story Jr. and Henry G. Story , both of Franklin; a sister, Clara Belle Whitley of Courtland; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

George L. Babb

SUFFOLK, Va. – George Louis Babb, 85, a native of Nansemond County, Va., died September 14, 2003 in Obici Hospital. He was the widower of Blanche O. Byrd Babb.

A funeral was conducted Wednesday in Sidney F. Harrell Chapel of Harrell and Hill Funeral Home by Dr. John R. Kimball. Interment was in Cypress Chapel Christian Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Southeastern Virginia Chapter, 20 Interstate Corporate Center, Suite 233, Norfolk, VA 23502-4006.

Babb retired after 25 years with the civil service and also retired from Obici Hospital with 25 years in the maintenance department. He was a member of Cypress Chapel Christian Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Linda B. Warren of Suffolk; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
