Plans underway for Atlantic District Fair

AHOSKIE – On August 12, the Atlantic District Fair Committee held their annual meeting at the Cape Center to discuss this year’s upcoming events.
The committee president, Dupont Davis and Ahoskie Mayor Arthur Lee Wiggins were two of the presiding members.
At the meeting, Mayor Wiggins was presented with an official Atlantic District Fair cap, by Davis.
This will be the 83rd annual Atlantic District Fair.
The gates will open on October 6 and the fair will run through October 11.
Davis, as well as Mayor Wiggins shared a few things to expect at this year’s fair.
On October 8, children pay no admission until 5 p.m.
Later Wednesday night, there will be a fireworks display, starting at 9 p.m.
Thursday has been designated as &uot;Senior Citizen’s Day.&uot; The committee is planning a meal as well as a guest speaker.
Davis and Wiggins also included that there will be other events such as horse harness races and an art exhibit which will be free to the public.
Admission, upon arrival, will be $5 at the gate; however, inside the gate there will be concession stands serving crabs, fish, chicken and all the usual fair goodies.
Davis and the rest of the committee are welcoming you and your family out for a night of fun at the 83rd annual Atlantic District Fair!
