JACKSON – A Conway man has been arrested on sex-related charges.

Northampton County Sheriff’s Office Chief Detective D.M. Harmon arrested Charles Leroy Butler last weekend on charges of First Degree Sexual Offense with a child.

Butler of Deberry Mill Road was arrested after Northampton County Deputy J. Stevens received a complaint about an incident which allegedly occurred between the defendant and a minor family member. The family member was six and seven years of age at the time of the occurrence, according to Harmon.

Butler is in the Northampton County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond after his first appearance Monday.

“The investigation into this case is ongoing and further charges are pending,” Harmon said.
