Sally C. Francis

FRANKLIN, Va. – Sally Coburn Francis, 73,a native of Kelford, died June 29, 2003, at her home. She was the widow of Jesse B. Coburn and James E. Francis.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. David Johnson. Burial will be in Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Francis worked for many years at Parker Drug Co. and it was because of this employment that Mrs. Francis was well known by many area residents.

Survivors include three daughters, Sylvia C. Boykin of Franklin, Teresa L. Coburn of Easton, Md., and Michelle F. Williams of Greenville; a son, Craig B. Coburn of Franklin; two sisters, Bessie Shiflett of Franklin and Mary Lee Fees of Easton; three brothers, Edgar Edmonds of Jackson, William Edmonds of Rocky Mount and James T. Edmonds of Gloucester; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Diniece M. Bobbitt

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Diniece Marcel Bobbitt, 31, a native of Portsmouth, died June 26, 2003.

A funeral was conducted Monday at New First Baptist Church Taylorsville. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Ahoskie. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake, was in charge.

Survivors include her mother, Mary L. Williams of Portsmouth; four sisters, Edith D. Harris of Virginia Beach, Marilyn L. Yarbrough of Suffolk, Veta L. Rountree of Chesapeake and Lolita L. Moore of Portsmouth; and three brothers, Bobby E. Williams and Marvin E. Williams Jr., both of Portsmouth and Rick Lawrence of Arkansas.

Elaine C. Hoggard

WINDSOR – Elaine Cherry Hoggard, 49, a native of Martin County, died June 29, 2003, at her home.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Edgewood Cemetery by the Rev. Dennis J. Conner. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the home on Water St. Memorial gifts may be made to the Bertie County Relay for Life or Universal Hospital Hospice, P.O. Box 272, Ahoskie, NC 27910. Walker Funeral Home is in charge.

Mrs. Hoggard worked for Timberland Unlimited as an office manager. She was a member of Cashie Baptist Church and was a choir member.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Hoggard; a daughter; Brooke Cherry Davis of Windsor; two sons, Richard of Windsor and Walt Hoggard of Durham; her mother, Irene Butler Cherry; a sister, Mary C. Miller of Cumming, Ga.; and one grandchild.
