MILWAUKEE – Lillie Lane “Levenia” Martin Askew, 88, of Milwaukee died Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Halifax Regional Hospital in Roanoke Rapids.

She was a native of Northampton County and had been preceded in death by her first husband Sidney Martin. After his death she remarried and, then, lost her second husband, Ralph Askew. She was also preceded in death by three children, Nancy, Ted, and Donnie Martin; and her parents, Icie Tillery Lane and Edward Lane.

Miss Levenia was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who had been a very active and busy lady while raising her family. She had worked with Talon Zipper Factory, with the Telephone Company as an Operator and even with chicken houses.

Her survivors include one brother, Raleigh Lane; sister-in-law, Alta Lane; grandchildren, Patrick Martin and his wife, Lisa, and Stephanie Jones and husband, Bobby; two great grandchildren, Justin and Emalee Jones; and many loving and caring nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Mrs. Askew will be held Sunday, April 3, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in Bethany United Methodist Church in Milwaukee with Rev. Susan Harrison presiding. Burial will follow in the Milwaukee Cemetery.
