Robert B. Williams

WINTON – Robert Brent “Butch” Williams, 73, of 103 W. Mulberry Street, Winton, died Friday, August 8, 2014 in Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.

Mr. Williams was born in Hertford County on October 21, 1940 and was the son of the late Barnes Kittrell and Thelma Durfey Williams. A retired general foreman with Easco Aluminum, he was a faithful member of Winton Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, was a member of its Seniors Sunday School Class, the Men’s Brotherhood, and coached the church’s softball team.  He had served as a volunteer with the Winton Fire Department for 18 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Jane Lowe and Mildred Williams, and by his brother, B.K. Williams.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Emma Jean Piland Williams; a daughter, Jeannie Brown and husband David of Gates; three sons, Brent Williams and wife Suzanne and Chris Williams and wife Dale, all of Winton, and Danny Williams and wife Marie of Murfreesboro; and seven grandchildren, Beau, Ashley, Brandon, Braxton, Haley, Grafton, and Noah.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, August 10, in Winton Baptist Church by the Rev. Joe Futrell. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
