MURFREESBORO – Louise Phipps Copeland, 80, of Murfreesboro died Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie.

She was a longtime resident of Murfreesboro and had been preceded in death by her husband, George A. Copeland; parents, Homer Lee Phipps and Mamie Virginia Smith Phipps; and was the last surviving member of a family of 9 brothers and 1 sister.

She was retired from East Pavilion in Franklin, VA where she worked as a Nursing Assistant and will be remembered as a very loving and caring mother and grandmother.

Survivors include Katherine C. Brett, George R. Copeland and wife, Cindy, and Karen C. Cavin and husband, Scott, all of Murfreesboro; two grandchildren, Heather Brett of Ahoskie and Melanie Brett of Greenville; many nieces and nephews; and her precious “Joy” Chihuahua.

Her graveside service was held Sunday, November 17 in Riverside Cemetery, Murfreesboro with Dr. Lee Canipe presiding.
