Hey Hawks fans!

As always, there are lots of updates from the CU Athletic Department…

On April 13 at 7 p.m. in the Helms Center, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be having its’ annual Student-Athlete Auction and Talent Show.  Each team will have a few student-athletes up for bid.

If you need your car washed, gutters cleaned, landscaping etc., here’s your chance to get a CU athlete to help you out!  Minimum bids start at $5, and we will also award the top three talent show entries with trophies at the end of the night. We’d love to see you there!

The CU Bowling team finished in the top four in the Northern Division a few weeks ago to earn a spot in the CIAA Championship.  Last weekend, the CIAA Bowling Championship was played in Durham, and the team posted a 1-3 record before bowing out of the tournament.   The Bowling team had a competitive season this year, congratulations ladies!

The Baseball team heads to Raleigh this weekend to take on the St. Augustine’s College Falcons.  Earlier this week, the Hawks fell twice to #10 Mount Olive College.

This week, Justin Bagbey was named CIAA Offensive Player of the Week, along with his teammate Josh Catalano who was named CIAA Player of the Week.  Congratulations guys!

Also, congratulations to the CU Baseball Seniors: Justin Bagbey, Ryan Bradshaw, John DesChamps, Brett Garrett, Anthony O’Brien and Eddie Overton.  They celebrated their Senior Game last weekend against Lincoln University (PA).

The Golf Team recently took fourth place in the CIAA Northern Division tournament in Chesterfield, Virginia.  This weekend, the Hawks have a dual match against Virginia Union University.  Congratulations to Gregg Brooks, Cliff Forbes, and John Riddick who will be celebrating their Senior Match this weekend.

The Softball Team picked up a split against the Coker College Cobras last weekend.  They have home games this weekend and next weekend – all of which are Northern Division games.  April 14th is the Senior Game against Lincoln University (PA), and Sunday April 15th, the Hawks will take on Bowie State University.

The Men’s Tennis team defeated Johnson C. Smith earlier this week, and is currently preparing for the CIAA Tournament.  The Women’s Tennis Team heads to UNC-Pembroke next weekend before competition in the CIAA Tournament.  Good Luck!

Go Hawks!
