COLERAIN – Victoria Jean Huckabee Phelps, affectionately known to her family and friends as Vicki, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025, in Colerain, North Carolina, at the age of 68. Vicki was born on November 3, 1956, in Grand Haven, Michigan, and during her lifetime, she touched the hearts of all who knew her.

Vicki spent her entire career in management, a journey that spanned from the food industry to the parts industry. Through her professional life, she demonstrated a steadfast dedication and work ethic that inspired many she worked alongside.

A true lover of life, Vicki’s interests were as diverse as they were passionate. She migrated from the North and embraced southern cooking with enthusiasm and skill. Her culinary talents delighted those she loved, and her meals were truly a testament to her spirit of warmth and hospitality.

Baseball held a special place in Vicki’s heart. She was an ardent supporter of both the Chicago Cubs and the Atlanta Braves. A dedicated NASCAR fan, Vicki enjoyed the thrill of the race, cheering for her favorite drivers with vivacity.

The beauty of nature was a source of endless joy for Vicki, particularly in her own garden, where she lovingly tended to her flowers, especially her cherished rose bushes.

Above all, Vicki was a family-oriented woman, whose love and generosity knew no bounds. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. Known to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as “MeMe,” she treasured every moment spent with them and held each one deeply in her heart.

Vicki is preceded in death by her father, George Huckabee; her beloved daughter, Patricia “Tricia” Thomas; and her grandson, Steven Cale. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her surviving family: her devoted husband, W. Keith Phelps; her sons, Tony Huckabee and wife Alessia of Aulander, Tommy Huckabee and fiancée Jo Ellen of Aulander, and Robbie Phelps and wife Wendy of Lewisburg, KY. Also mourning her loss are her loving mother, Patricia Ann Eley Lohmeyer, and husband Bill of Grand Haven, MI; her treasured grandchildren, Miranda Paige Phelps and fiancée Josh Spence, Isaac Cale, Jr. and wife Donette, Brandon Cale, Reanna Huckabee, Devin Huckabee, Wayland Huckabee, Josh Thomas, Katlynn Phelps, Austin Phelps, Caleb Huckabee, and Blake Huckabee; her precious great-grandchildren, Shia, Ryker, and Elliott. Additionally, Vicki leaves behind her siblings, Jodie Mikesell and husband Bernie of Muskegon, MI, Jenny Logan and husband Mark of Grand Haven, MI, Wayne Huckabee and wife Traci of Grand Haven, MI, and Chip Pippell and wife Jennifer of Fruitport, MI, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Vicki’s life will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service in Ahoskie, North Carolina, with Rev. Al Hughson officiating. The family welcomes friends to join them an hour prior, from 1-2 p.m., at the funeral home to share their condolences and fond memories.
