Also on May 22, NCSO Detective Sgt. M. Deloatch obtained warrants on the same 17-year-old juvenile, charging him as an adult under the new law that became effective in December of last year. This new law pertains to 16 and 17-year-old juveniles that commit Class A-E felonies and can be charged as an adult with cases beginning in adult court.

Deloatch’s warrants charge the 17-year-old with one count felony robbery with a dangerous weapon, one count felony larceny of a motor vehicle, and one count misdemeanor possession of firearm by minor. These warrants are pending service as the juvenile is currently being held in a local juvenile detention center under secured custody on unrelated charges from a case investigation on April 22.

In addition to this investigation, Deloatch also charged a 15-year-old male juvenile of Woodland on April 13. A petition was filed against the juvenile charging him with one count of felony robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count felony larceny of a motor vehicle.

The charges on both subjects resulted in an investigation that began on March 24 where a vehicle was stolen from a victim at gunpoint.
