CONWAY, NC – Brenda Meeks Brickell Allen, age 77, born on June 24, 1947 in Bertie County, NC, died peacefully on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at ECU Health Roanoke Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie, North Carolina with her family by her side.

She is predeceased in death by her parents, William “Jay Bird” Meeks, Jr. and Nancy Dunning Meeks, and her beloved husband, Sidney Allen.

Brenda worked as a hairdresser and then served as a computer specialist before retiring. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt. Brenda was a member of Zion Methodist Church.

Left to cherish Brenda’s memory is her two daughters, Michelle Higginbotham and husband Jay of Sevierville, TN, and Tammy Brickell and husband Clay Nicholson of Roanoke Rapids, NC; step-daughter, Crystal Rooker and husband Howard of Roanoke Rapids; her grandchildren, Sara Chandler, Melandie Bland, Justin Rooker, and Candace Rooker; her great grandchildren, Colton Shotwell and Cassidy Strickland; Sidney’s three sons, Sid, Jr. (Penny) of Woodland, NC, Steve (Sherry) of Pendleton, NC and Stewart Allen (Jennifer) of Conway, NC; his seven grandchildren, Candi Horton (Clay) of Conway, NC, Holley Harris (Josh) of Pendleton, NC, Hunter Allen (Makayla) of Pendleton, NC, Will Allen (Laura) of Conway, NC, Allison McCall (Jared) of Spartanburg, SC, and Taylor Allen and Kylie Allen, of Conway, NC; and eight great grandchildren, Bryson Harris, Brinley Harris, Colten Horton, Chloe Horton, Paisley Allen, Sullivan McCall, Drew McCall and Alex Allen. She is also survived by her brothers, Wayne Meeks, and Larry Meeks, both of Ahoskie, NC, and many nieces, and nephews, extended family, and friends.

A graveside service will be held at Conway Cemetery on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Carol Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
