HCHS earns medals at state track and field championships

GREENSBORO – The North Carolina High School Athletic Association Class 2A Track and Field Championships took place on May 16 at the Marcus T. Johnson Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T.
There, Hertford County High School was represented by several of its student-athletes who scored points by finishing in the top eight of their event.
In the Boys Discus Throw, Quadre Spratley, a junior, finished second with a toss measuring 145’- 09”.
In the Boys Long Jump, Gianni Gomez, a senior, placed third with a leap of 22’-00.75”.
Gomez finished seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 43’-3”.
Ramello Robertson, a senior, finished sixth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.60 seconds. He also placed sixth in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 40.44 seconds.
In the Girls 4 x 200 meter relay, Hertford County placed seventh with a time of 1:46.71. Completing in that event for HCHS were Taliyah Holley (a junior), Cashmere Cooper (senior), Acaisia Weaver (sophomore), and Gabby Hayes (senior).
Hertford County placed eighth in the Girls 4 x 100 meter relay at a time of 50.69 seconds (2.39 seconds out of first place). Running for HCHS in that event were Taliyah Holley (a junior), Hayes, Cooper, and Weaver.
