Ridgecroft advances in NCISAA tournaments

AHOSKIE – For the first time in school history, Ridgecroft School’s baseball team has advanced to the Final Four round in the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association State Tournament.
Ridgecroft’s softball team has also earned a berth in the state tournament’s Final Four round.
In baseball, Ridgecroft, seeded seventh, went on the road on Thursday to upset second-seeded Pungo Christian Academy, 7-3. That win moves Ridgecroft to the state semifinals where on Tuesday (May 13), the Rams (13-7 overall) will travel to #3 Kerr-Vance Academy (8-14 overall). The winner gains a berth in the NCISAA championship round, a best of three series, slated for May 16-17 at North Carolina Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount.
In NCISAA softball action on Thursday, fourth-seeded Ridgecroft edged #5 Pungo Christian Academy, 6-4.
The Lady Rams (10-5 overall) advance to the NCISAA Final Four. They will face top-seeded Cape Fear Christian Academy (10-1 overall) on the road in Tuesday’s (May 13) semifinals. The winner advances to the championship round (a best of 3 series) on May 16-17 at NC Wesleyan.
