WINDSOR – The Bertie County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest on Monday morning for a homicide that occurred April 10 outside of the town limits of Aulander.

Jar’quez Deloatch, age 23 of Kelford, surrendered to the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office and was charged with one count of first degree murder.

Deloatch was processed and confined into the Bertie/Martin Regional Jail under no bond.

Bertie Sheriff Tyrone Ruffin said Deloatch is accused of murdering Brent Dixon, age 21, of Greenville. Dixon died as the result of a gunshot to his neck.

There was no information released citing a motive to the murder.
