Gunfire damages vehicles and buildings in Woodland

WOODLAND – Several juveniles were detained following a shooting here yesterday (Tuesday) that caused damage to numerous vehicles and buildings.
There were no reports of injuries.
According to a press release from the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 1:40 p.m. to a shooting at the Dollar General Store in Woodland.
NCSO Captain Patrick Jacobs told the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald that shots were fired on the property of Dollar General and within the general area.
Information regarding the number of shots fired and the type of weapon (or weapons) used was not released.
A suspect vehicle was immediately developed in the case and with the help of Hertford County Sheriff’s Office and the Murfreesboro Police Department, one of the suspect vehicles was spotted and the occupants detained.
“Numerous juvenile are currently under investigation for potential involvement in the shooting,” stated Jacobs, adding that no formal charges have been filed as of Wednesday morning.
Jacobs said the Northampton Sheriff’s Office is working on leads and evidence involving this shooting, to include a search for a second suspect vehicle.
