To the Editor:

Thank you to Holly Taylor for her column of Saturday, April 12, that endorsed libraries in general and the local Albemarle Regional Library System in particular.

As ARL Director, I echo her comments, especially her invitation to visit a local branch and discover its offerings. As the orange juice commercial once declared that orange juice isn’t just for breakfast, so libraries aren’t just for books.

As you visit any of the seven branches (Ahoskie Public Library, Bertie County Public Library in Windsor, Elizabeth S. Parker Library in Murfreesboro, Gates County Public Library, Hertford County Public Library in Winton, Northampton County Memorial Library in Jackson, or Sallie Harrell Jenkins Memorial Library in Aulander), be sure to take advantage of the expertise of the staff. If there is something you need that isn’t readily available, please speak to a staff member or contact me (252-358-7832 and/or hdavis@arlnc.org), and we’ll see if we can accommodate you. We are here to serve the public in Bertie, Gates, Hertford, and Northampton Counties.

As Ms. Taylor mentioned in her column, Saturday, April 19, Northampton County Memorial Library will host the second George Moses Horton Book Festival at the Cultural and Wellness Center in Jackson. We hope to see you there. Please check our social media for the ever-changing and interesting offerings at all of our branches.

Again, thanks to Ms. Taylor for her column.
