September 1, 1934 – April 4, 2025

CHESTERFIELD, MO – With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ruth James Hough, who left this world on April 4, 2025 at the age of 90. She departed peacefully, surrounded by family. She was a native of Hertford County.

Predeceased by her parents King and Julia Hall James; her only son Earl Leon Flood; her eight brothers, Robert James, Emmanuel James, Isaac James, Richard James, Horace James; and sister Cornelia James. She is survived by her two daughters Crystal Lynn Curtis and daughter Patricia Renee Smith and her sister Eunice.

Viewing at 10:30 a.m. and funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Philippi Missionary Baptist Church, 550 NC-45, Cofield, NC 27922.

Interment will be at James Cemetery at NC 125, Hobgood, NC, 27843.

Repast immediately following interment will be held at Golden Skillet, 706 S. Catherine Creek Road, Ahoskie, NC 27910.

Services of comfort are entrusted to Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, North Carolina.
