AHOSKIE – Ronnie Elton Smith, born on September 2, 1954, in Hertford County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025, at the age of 70. He was surrounded by his family and the caring staff at ECU Health Hospice House in Pitt County, North Carolina, as he transitioned from this world.
Ronnie’s life was a testament to his profound devotion to faith, family, and simple pleasures. A faithful member of Mercy Church in Ahoskie, NC, he cherished his church community, which brought him immense joy and solace.
His love for his family was unparalleled, particularly for his beloved daughter, Jenna Smith Farmer, and his cherished grandson, Landon. The bonds he shared with his sister, Bonnie, and brother, Blake “B.B.”, were a source of constant strength and happiness.
Ronnie had a passion for food that brought those around him together, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere wherever he went. He spent countless hours fishing on the Chowan River, finding peace and fulfillment in its tranquil waters, a pursuit he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvia Ann Nichols Baisey and John Elton Smith, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Surviving him are his daughter Jenna and her husband Brian of Aulander; his grandson Landon Parker of Aulander; his sister Bonnie Langdale and her husband Larry of Kill Devil Hills, NC; his brother Blake “B.B.” Baisey and his wife Celeste of Winterville, NC; his beloved nieces Sheryl Alligood and special friend Ron of Longview, TX, and Taylor Baisey of Oakland, California; along with his dear special friend, Angie Plaunty of Ahoskie. Also surviving are many extended family members, and friends.
A celebration of Ronnie’s life will take place on Wednesday evening, April 16, 2025, at 6 p.m. at Mercy Church in Ahoskie, NC with Rev. Ray Faircloth, Sr. officiating.
