Ahoskie Christian softball extends win streak

AHOSKIE – The Lady Warriors of Ahoskie Christian School extended their winning streak to three games by sweeping a pair of opponents last week.
On Thursday, Ahoskie Christian hosted Suffolk Christian Academy where they raced to an 8-0 lead after two innings of play en route to a 19-4 victory. The game was halted in the bottom of the fourth inning where ACS tallied six runs which invoked the mercy rule.
Braelyn Chamblee led the offensive onslaught with a perfect 4-for-4 outing at the plate. She also drove home five runs.
Kinsley Dunlow had a hit and 3 RBIs. Lauren Dickens added one hit, one RBI and scored four runs.
Lilli Farmer, Casey Piland, and Keira Lassiter each added a hit.
As a team, ACS took full advantage of 14 walks and stole 10 bases (four by Lassiter).
Lassiter got the win on the mound, working three shutout innings where she allowed no hits and fanned three batters.
On Friday, Ahoskie Christian made the short trip to Askewville to face Bethel Assembly Christian Academy. There, the Lady Warriors pulled away from a 5-3 lead by combining for 10 runs over the third, fourth, and fifth innings to notch a 16-6 win.
Dickens swung a hot bat in this game, going 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Farmer, Casey Piland, Chamblee, Natalie Jordan, Myah Bradley, and Cally Piland each added one hit.
Casey Piland went the distance on the mound, surrendering six runs off 11 hits and fanned one batter.
Ahoskie Christian’s win streak began on April 4 at home vs. Gramercy Christian. There, Farmer and Dunlow combined to pitch a no-hitter as the Lady Warriors won, 16-1.
Dunlow led the way offensively with a 2-for-2 effort at the plate, to include a double. She drove home one run and scored twice. Chamblee and Dickens each had a hit and three RBIs while Casey Piland, Cally Piland, and Bradley each added one hit and drove home two runs.
Farmer, Lassiter, and Paige Terry each chipped in one hit.
The win streak allowed Ahoskie Christian to improve to 9-6 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
