CONWAY – Betty “Jean” Lane Hasty, age 86, passed away on April 01, 2025 at Northampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jackson, NC. Jean was born on December 15, 1938 in Woodland, NC to parents Harvey Edward Lane and Tulie Mae Outland Lane.
Jean grew up near Long’s Store outside of Rich Square. She graduated from Rich Square High School, and afterwards she was employed many years for The Jewel Box and JP Stevens. She married “Bill” Hasty on September 15, 1979 and they resided most of their married life in South Carolina. After Bill’s death, she moved back to North Carolina and eventually back home to Northampton County, residing in Milwaukee. Jean was a people person. She knew no stranger and could make a friend wherever she went. Her favorite hobby was shopping.
Along with her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wilson “Bill” Hasty, Jr. and siblings, Elwood Lane, Ann Capolingua, and Sandra Davis.
Jean is survived by sister, Linda Lane Sumner; stepchildren, Leigh Holliday of Roebuck, SC, Frances Cooper of Easley, SC, John Hasty of Greenville, SC, Steven Hasty of Travelers Rest, SC; and step grandchildren, Sarah Cooper, Logan Holliday, Jessie Hasty, Josh Cooper, Pate Hasty, Maggie Holliday. She is also survived by nephews, Stewart Allen (Jennifer), Steve Allen (Sherry), Sid Allen (Penny), Leon Klekner, Tim Klekner (Kara) as well as many great nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025 at 3:30 p.m. at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Rich Square, NC with Rev. Ricky Barnes officiating.
