WOODLAND – Daniel Richard “Danny” Baggett, born on April 19, 1955, in Ahoskie, Hertford County, North Carolina, peacefully passed away on March 25, 2025, at the age of 69, at ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, North Carolina.

Growing up, Danny developed a deep appreciation for his hometown and its surroundings. He spent two decades as a dedicated carpenter, honing his craft with precision and care. Later, he transitioned to work as a Parts Technician at Perdue, where his keen attention to detail and work ethic were highly valued.

Danny found joy in the simple pleasures of life, with fishing being his favorite hobby, where he often found both peace and excitement by the water’s edge. He was a jovial presence on Facebook, ever curious and engaged, often described as “nosey” by those who knew him well. Cooking was another beloved pastime, and he was particularly renowned for his famous shredded BBQ chicken, a dish that brought many smiles to family gatherings. His love for animals was evident to all who knew him, and while every dog had a place in his heart, none were dearer to him than his cherished companion, Moop. Danny’s legacy of love, laughter, and friendship will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Clarine Felton Baggett and Claude Baggett; his beloved wife, Wanda Byrum Baggett; his son, Joshua Baggett; his brothers, Bobby Allen, William “Bill,” and Barry Baggett; and his uncle, Hubert Earl Baggett.

He is survived by his devoted daughter, Spring Orientale, and her husband, Johnathan, both of the home; his sister-in-law, Jenny Baggett; his aunt, Elma Baggett; his treasured fur baby, Moop; and numerous extended family members and dear friends who will remember his warmth and kindness.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 4-6 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service in Ahoskie, NC. A celebration of Danny’s life will take place on Sunday, March 30, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, with Rev. David Pierce officiating.
