GREENVILLE – Harold Donald Ramsey, age 85, passed away on March 13, 2025, at the ECU Health Inpatient Hospice in Greenville, NC with his family by his side. He was born on March 23, 1939, in Emeigh, Pennsylvania, to the late William “Bill” Ramsey and Irene Baum Ramsey.

After graduating from Barnesboro High School in Barnesboro, PA, Harold dutifully served his country in the US Army. Immediately following his military service, he dedicated 30 years of his professional life to the Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington, D.C. as a medical administrative assistant until his well-deserved retirement.

Harold cherished life’s adventures, particularly through his love of travel, and found immense joy in the companionship of his beloved cat, Mister. He was a member of Connaritsa Baptist Church in Aulander, NC. Harold lived a life full of love, service, and devotion, touching the hearts of all who knew him. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those he left behind.

Harold is deeply missed by those who survive him, including his loving sister, Diane Ramsey of Altoona, PA, his devoted niece, Kimberly McDermott, her husband Jerry and their daughters Cheyanne and Chloe of Northern Cambria, PA. He is also survived by his nephew, Christopher Nealen, his wife Cari, and their children Cory and Ruthie of Ellicott City, MD. Harold’s treasured partner of 50 years, Joe Peele, and Joe’s siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins will continue to hold his memory close.

The family will welcome friends for visitation on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service in Ahoskie, NC. A celebration of Harold’s life will follow with a funeral service on Sunday, at 2 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie Chapel. Burial will take place afterward at Aulander Cemetery in Aulander, NC. Friends and family are invited to gather at Breaking Bread on Main Street in Aulander for food and fellowship following the burial.

Pallbearers will include William J. Peele, Jr., Joseph R. Peele, Chris Rawls, Dana Lassiter, Chris Nealen, and Jerry McDermott.
