COLERAIN – Dennis Wayne Hoggard, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2025, in Bertie County, North Carolina. Born on June 17, 1968, also in Bertie County, Dennis spent his 56 years in the community he called home.

A skilled carpenter by trade, Dennis was known for his dedication to his work and his ability to craft with precision and care. Beyond his professional life, he was an avid outdoorsman who cherished the tranquility of hunting and the peaceful joy of fishing. He delighted in spending time with his friends and treasured the companionship of his loyal dogs, who were constant fixtures by his side. Dennis Wayne Hoggard will be missed by all who knew him for his warmth, his enthusiasm for the simple pleasures of life, and his unwavering loyalty to those he loved. May he rest in eternal peace.

Dennis was preceded in death by his loving parents, Sarah Phelps Hoggard and Carroll Eugene Hoggard, Sr., as well as his brother, Carroll Eugene Hoggard Jr., and his sister, Annette Hoggard. Though their loss was deeply felt, Dennis found solace in the company of his surviving family. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sisters: Jeanette Braddy and her husband William of Pine Tops, NC; Frances Bryant and her husband Joe R. Bryant, Jr. of Murfreesboro, NC; and Virginia Bailey of Winton, NC. Dennis will also be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews: Cheryl, Sherry, and Chris Bailey, Cathy Tull, and Ricky and Mitch Taylor, who will carry his love and stories forward.

The family will hold a private service at a later date to honor Dennis’s life and bid farewell to their beloved brother and uncle.
