AHOSKIE – Douglas Barry Joyner, age 62, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025, at the ECU Health Service League of Greenville Inpatient Hospice in Greenville, North Carolina. Born on August 3, 1962, in Hertford County, Ahoskie, North Carolina, Doug lived a life full of passion and dedication, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Doug was known for his lifelong love of trucking, a passion that began at the age of 18. For 42 years, he worked diligently for himself under J F Trucking. For the last 20 years, Doug has pulled trailers for Burgess Peanuts of Courtland, VA. Operating across the airwaves under the CB handle “Road Runner,” Doug’s commitment to his faith was unwavering, as reflected in his company’s motto, “Jesus First.” His beloved wife, Jackie, accompanied him whenever possible on these road adventures until her health no longer permitted. They shared many precious moments on their many journeys. Douglas cherished his favorite pastimes of hunting and fishing, and was also an enthusiastic motorcyclist, carving out time to ride whenever he could. Above all, Doug was a devoted father to his daughter, Kimberly, supporting her unconditionally throughout her life. She spent countless hours with him on the truck, learning from his wisdom and sharing in his boundless joy for life. Doug’s joyous spirit, enduring love for his family, and steadfast faith are a beacon for all whose lives he touched. May he rest in eternal peace.

Preceded in death by his father, Robert Barry Joyner, Doug leaves behind a family who will carry forward his memory. Left to cherish his legacy are his wife, Jackie Farmer Joyner; his loving mother, Patricia Evelina Umphlett Joyner; his daughter, Kimberly Outlaw and her husband Garany of Aulander; his stepson, Jason Conner and wife Carolina of Largo, FL; and his cherished grandson, Trey Joyner of Aulander. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Frances Farmer of Ahoskie, his brothers, Robert “Bobby” Joyner and wife Deanna of Ahoskie, and Donnie Joyner and wife Cathy of Harrellsville, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
