GASTON – Northampton County High School used a second half rally here last night to advance to the Final Four round of the NCHSAA Class 1A playoffs.

The Jaguars, trailing 30-24 at halftime, rebounded in the final two periods to defeat Bertie High School, 65-55.

Northampton (21-6 overall) advances to meet Southern Wake Academy (27-4 overall) in Holly Springs on Friday night (March 7). The winner of that game will play for the Eastern Regional title.

On Tuesday, Northampton placed three players in double figures led by 20 points from Jiyoun Williams. Torrey Harris added 19 points and J. Gholson added 11 points.

There were no individual stats available for Bertie, who finished the season at 15-12 overall.

Also on Tuesday night, the Hertford County High School girls basketball team saw their season come to an end on the road at Seaforth High School where the Lady Bears suffered a 74-31 setback. HCHS finishes the season at 13-14 overall.
