HENRICO – The search for a missing man concluded on Tuesday, but not with a happy ending.

The deceased body of 77-year-old Paul M. Byrd of Henrico was found outside in an undisclosed location.

It appears and is believed to be no foul play involved, according to the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office.

Byrd was last seen on Monday, Feb. 17 near his home. Northampton Sheriff’s deputies responded to his residence on Monday of this week in reference to a welfare check. When they were unable to locate Byrd, resources were assembled and a search was launched. Taking part in the search were Northampton County Emergency Management, Roanoke Wildwood Fire Department, Coastal Carolina Search Team, South Orange Search & Rescue, Wake K-9, and Southern Pride K-9.

The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office thanked all those assisting in the search.
