CONWAY – Sarah Kay Taylor Coggins of Conway, NC, born on March 9, 1948 in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, peacefully passed away at the age of 76 on February 16, 2025 in Scotland Neck, North Carolina. Throughout her life, Kay was known for her gentle spirit and the warmth she brought to everyone she encountered.

Kay was preceded in death by her father, Thurman Carl Taylor and mother, Rachel Ezell Davis Taylor. She was also preceded in death by her devoted husband, David Earl Coggins. Together, they built a life filled with shared dreams, love, and support for their family.

She is survived by her children, David Mark Coggins and his wife, Meggan, Jeffrey Taylor Coggins and his wife, Elizabeth, and Lori Nicole Coggins Jenkins and her husband, Andrew. Each of her children carries forward the values and compassion instilled in them by their loving mother and father. Kay shared a deep connection with her sister, Nancy Sue Taylor Smith. The sisters were inseparable companions, sharing countless outings, laughter, and memories. Their bond was a testament to enduring family love and friendship that enriched both their lives. Her legacy continues through her cherished family, including her beloved grandchildren, Brandall Davis Coggins, Braxton Earl Coggins, Molly Gail Coggins, Sarah Katherine Parker Coggins, William Jeffrey Coggins, and David Beau Jenkins. Her grandchildren were a source of great pride and joy and she found immense happiness in their company, lives, and accomplishments.

Throughout her life, Kay was blessed with lasting, meaningful friendships, particularly with her friends at Bryan Health and Rehabilitation in Scotland Neck, NC. The mutual admiration and affection between Kay, the staff and residents were profound. Her presence there was a beacon of kindness and community spirit, leaving a mark on all who knew her. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the entire team at Bryan Health and Rehabilitation for their unwavering care and support. You are all truly considered family and your kindness will never be forgotten.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Kay’s life was held at Askew Funeral Services in Jackson, North Carolina on February 18, 2025.

Sarah Kay Taylor Coggins will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose life was characterized by compassion, warmth, and dedication to those she loved. Her memory will continue to guide and inspire her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
