JACKSON – The Jackson Police Department reported on Feb. 7 that they’re continuing to follow up on all leads and tips on the whereabouts of Sharbrina McGee and her three-year-old son.
McGee and her son were first reported missing by her family on June 29, 2024. McGee is described as a 5’5’’ Black female with black hair and brown eyes. Her address was in Jackson, but she was last seen in the Seaboard area.
Jackson PD Chief Brenda Burnette said they conducted a two-day search on Feb. 6 and Feb. 7 for the missing mother and son. The department worked alongside law enforcement and other partners, both locally and from across North Carolina, utilizing search teams, cadaver dogs, and a helicopter from the state Highway Patrol. Searches were conducted in areas around Jackson, Seaboard, and Garysburg.
“We were unable to locate Ms. Sharbrina McGee and her three-year-old son at those locations searched,” stated Chief Burnette on Friday. “I would like to thank all our local and state partners that came from both near and far to help us conduct this search.”
Previously, in July 2024, the Jackson Police Department partnered with several local agencies to conduct a door-to-door canvass search in Jackson, Seaboard, and Weldon. They passed out flyers with pictures and information, but were unable to locate the missing people at that time.
On Friday, Burnette emphasized that reuniting McGee and her son with their family is their department’s number one priority.
“We urge the community to say something if you know something to help bring closure to the family,” she continued.
