Doug Cobbs Scholarship Tournament slated Dec. 6-7

AHOSKIE – Ridgecroft School will host the Doug Cobbs Scholarship Invitational Tournament on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6-7.
Basketball teams representing Pungo Christian Academy, Southampton Academy, Lawrence Academy, Brunswick Academy, Northeast Academy, Kenston Forest, Tidewater Academy and Ridgecroft School are scheduled to compete in two-day tournament.
On Friday, Dec. 6, Pungo Christian Academy and Southampton Academy will meet in varsity girls and varsity boys action beginning at 4 pm. Lawrence Academy and Brunswick Academy (girls and boys) will meet in Friday’s nightcap.
On Saturday, Northeast Academy and Kenston Forest girls and boys open play at 4 p.m. followed by Ridgecroft School and Tidewater Academy in the nightcap.
Cobbs spent 30 years at Ridgecroft School as a teacher, coach, and Athletic Director. He served 25 years on the NCISAA Board of Directors/Board of Managers. He continues to enjoy being part of the lives of young people and this tournament embodies the passion he has for children and sports.
Sponsorship for the tournament is currently being solicited. The money will be used for the scholarships presented during Saturday’s awards ceremony. There are several levels of sponsorship as follows:
Title Sponsor – $1,000, which includes company name printed on tournament signage and acknowledgment on all social media, radio ads, the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald, and by the public address announcer at the tournament.
All Star Sponsor – $500, name printed on tournament signage and acknowledgment on social media and tournament announcing.
Starter Sponsor – $250, name printed on tournament signage.
All sponsorships are due ASAP in order to be included on signage. Make checks payable to Ridgecroft School and mailed to 420 NC Highway 11, Ahoskie, NC 27910.
