EURE, NC – Daniel Bradford Doughtie, 91, of 385 Taylor Mill Road, Eure, NC, died Monday, October 31, 2022 in his home where he was being cared for by family.

Mr. Doughtie was born in Gates County on November 11, 1930, and was the son of the late Jesse Moore Doughtie and Arvilla Lang Doughtie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, William E. Doughtie; sisters, Adell Cowper, Sarah Evans, and Jessie Cutrell; and by brothers, Pilston and Wallace Ray Doughtie.

A retired farmer, he had also been employed as a driver with Byrum Oil Company and then Crossroads Fuel for a combined total of over 30 years. Other employment later enjoyed included working with the Albemarle Regional Health Services Roduco Convenience Site. A member of Cool Spring Baptist Church, he was an Army veteran.

Surviving is his wife of 68 years, Maralinda Eure Doughtie; a daughter, Terrie D. Ambrose (husband, Al) of Corapeake; two sons, Daniel M. Doughtie (wife, Donna) and Jeffrey A. Doughtie (wife, Nita), both of Eure; a brother, J.C. Doughtie of Ahoskie; six grandchildren, Corey Jones (husband, Donnie), Ashley Preedy (husband, Earl), Joseph Doughtie (wife, Rikki Leigh), Jesy Smith (husband, Abe), and Jacob and Samuel Doughtie; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 4 at 3:00 p.m. in Cool Spring Baptist Church and will be conducted by the Pastor Charlie Brown. A private burial will follow in the Doughtie Family Cemetery near the home.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, November 3 from 7 to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, and all other times at the residence.
