CHARLOTTE – The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) released their Week Seven edition of the CIAA Football Weekly Honors.

Once again, defensive players for Chowan University were selected as Montre Moore (LB) and Jamae Blank (DL) were given the nod.

Moore, who gained his third selection of the season, recorded a game-high 14 total tackles in the Hawks’ 43-40 win over conference foe Virginia State. The graduate student’s six solo tackles and two pass breakups were also game-highs and he was credited with a quarterback hurry and assisted on a tackle for a loss. The San Bernardino, CA native had a goal line stuff on third down and earned a third down pass deflection in the fourth quarter. Moore’s 14 total tackles were the third most in a single-game in the CIAA this season.

Blank, picking up his second honor this season, tallied eight total tackles, including four solo stops and three tackles for a loss, one forced fumble, and a quarterback hurry in the win over Virginia State. The sophomore had six tackles that resulted in gains of two yards or loss and forced a punt with a third down tackle.

The Hawks (4-3 overall and 4-1 in the league) hit the road tomorrow (Saturday) for a CIAA Northern Division contest at Bowie State (4-3; 3-2).
