AHOSKIE – Maggie Cooke Benson, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at the ECU Health Roanoke Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, NC.

Maggie was born on February 3, 1945 to Gurnie Abner Cooke and Mary Lou Stalls Cooke in Bethel, NC. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She worked as a certified nursing assistant for many years and enjoyed taking care of others. She loved to read in her spare time. Maggie was loved by her family and friends and will be deeply missed.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Allan White; two grandsons, Tommy Lee White, Jr., and Timothy Ronald Jernigan; sister, Shirley Cooke Sadler and her husband Bradford; and brothers, John Oscar Cooke, and Gurnie Abner Cooke, Jr.

Maggie is survived by her son, Tommy Lee White and wife Angela of Ahoskie; one grandson, Joshua Andrew White (Christina) of Ahoskie; two great-granddaughters, Madison Nicole Jernigan of Roxobel, NC, and Emma Lynn Jernigan of Colerain, NC; two great-grandsons, John Allan Jernigan of Roxobel, and Timothy Ronald Jernigan, Jr. of Colerain; and a great great-grandson, Tommy Lee White, III of Ahoskie.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 21, 2022 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service- Ahoskie Chapel, Ahoskie, NC.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Steve Wall officiating.
