AHOSKIE – Reverend Richard Albert Rice, age 84, of Pembroke Avenue, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2022 at the Accordius Health at Creekside Care of Ahoskie, NC.

Reverend Rice was born on August 3, 1938 to the late Clifford and Ruth Cauffman Rice in Philadelphia, PA. He was dedicated to sharing the gospel with everyone. Rev. Rice retired from the First Presbyterian Church of Ahoskie and from being the Chaplain at Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital. He was a beloved pastor of this community and will be deeply missed by those that knew him.

Reverend Rice is survived by his beloved wife Ellen; his son, David Rice and wife Alice of Pasadena, MD; his daughter, Pamela Bartholomew and husband John of Round Rock, TX; and four granddaughters, Jenna Rice, Blair Bartholomew, Emma Bartholomew, and Katie Rice; along with many friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 1, 2022 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC

A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service – Ahoskie Chapel, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Anita Thompson officiating and burial following at Ahoskie Cemetery.
