Melon Fest ends on a high note

MURFREESBORO – The 37th annual North Carolina Watermelon Festival wrapped up its four-day run on a high note here Saturday where a large crowd gathered to enjoy the numerous activities.
The final day opened with the Festival’s annual parade and ended with the sounds of the popular Pizazz Band coming from the Broad Street stage.
Saturday’s traditional events included the naming of the winners of the Little Mr. Farmer and Little Miss Farmer contests. Those respective titles were earned by Bennett Bryant, the son of Brad and Emily Bryant of Murfreesboro, and Hartleigh Conner, the daughter of Chris and Stephanie Conner of Murfreesboro.
Hayes Carr, the daughter of Thomas and Candice Carr of Murfreesboro, was crowned as the Little Princess at the 2022 North Carolina Watermelon Festival on Saturday. Lainey Brown, the daughter of Greg and Becky Brown of Mechanicsville, VA, was the second runner-up. Harper Knowles, the daughter of Sharon and David Knowles of Winton, was the first runner-up.
Emory New, the 2022 North Carolina Watermelon Queen, presided over the Little Princess contest.
