AHOSKIE – Franklin Hugh Willoughby, Sr., age 73, of Evergreen Street, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.

A native of Hertford County, Frankie was born on April 27, 1949 to Hugh Vann Willoughby, Sr. and Edna Earl Parks Willoughby in the Tunis Village area. He was a loving father and grandfather. He loved being a semi-truck driver and did it for 50 plus years, enjoying every minute of his travels. Frankie was a kind man that would do anything he could to help someone else even if it meant giving them the shirt off his back. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorina Mae Brown, Faye Surles, and Anne Broglin.

Frankie is survived by two sons, Franklin Hugh Willoughby, Jr., and Franklin Vann Willoughby and wife Lisa both of Ahoskie; two daughters, Linda Farmer and husband Clayton of Ahoskie, NC, and Tiffany Elizabeth Willoughby of Roanoke Rapids; his girlfriend, Ruth “Johnnie” Copley Vann of Ahoskie; two sisters, Linda Hill of Ahoskie, and Nancy Hoggard and husband Thurman of Windsor; three grandsons, Christopher Michael Craft, Samuel Matthew Bembridge and wife Alyssa, and Tyler Jernigan; four granddaughters, Lilli Farmer, Macey Farmer, Savannah Comeaux, and Riley Tharrington; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday, June 26, 2022, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, and other times at the home of his daughter, Linda.

A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Monday, June 27, 2022, at 2 p.m. at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Joe Futrell officiating. Burial will follow at Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Eure, NC.
