COLERAIN, NC – Amelia Ping Adams, age 85, of Wakelon Road, Colerain, gained her angel wings Monday, May 16, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family.

A native of Bertie County, Amelia was born January 6, 1937 and was a daughter of the late Leonard and Nell Pierce Ping.

Amelia was a dedicated member of Colerain Baptist Church, serving as church secretary, member of the choir, and Woman’s Missionary Union leader, along with many other leadership roles. Her passion was giving to missions, making ceramics and gardening. She loved her family and her most joyful moments were having all her family together. Amelia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend and will be dearly missed by all that knew her.

Along with her parents, Amelia was preceded in death by her husband, Gene T. Adams Sr.; her son, Randy Adams; her brothers, Thomas Theodore Ping, and Leonard Ping; sisters, Bernice Ping Brooks, and Lottie Ann Ping; and a grandchild, Beth Chappell.

Amelia is survived by her three sons, Gene T. Adams Jr. and wife Cheryl of Windsor, Andy R. Adams of Colerain, and John Roger Adams and wife Brenda, of Colerain; seven grandchildren, Nichole Bradley, Noel Adams, Christopher Stacy, Steven Adams, Stephen Gillespie, April Gillespie, and Brandon Fountain; and twelve great-grandchildren, Nick Adams, Cole Bradley, Luke Stacy, Logan Stacy, Landon Stacy, Wesley Fountain, Landon Fountain, Dylan Fountain, Brandon D. Fountain, Michaela Respass, Jayden Respass, and Brooklyn Thomas.

A viewing will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Walker Funeral Home, Windsor, NC.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022 at Colerain Baptist Church, Colerain NC, with Rev. Gary Saffell officiating, with burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Colerain, NC.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, for contributions to be made to Colerain Baptist Church for missions.
