FRANKLIN, VA – Bruce Elwood Vann, age 75, passed away on February 12, 2022 at Southampton Memorial Hospital in Franklin, VA.

Mr. Vann was born in Arlington, Virginia on June 15, 1946, a son the late Mills Elwood and Veronica Stankus Vann. Bruce was a civil engineer/project manager for Tidewater Construction Co, now LeHigh Hanson, Inc. When able, Bruce was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting. He enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles, and you could often hear him singing. Bruce was a dedicated NC State fan and enjoyed watching their games, but most of all, he loved his family and spending time with them, especially his grandson.

Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife Cynthia Davenport Vann; his son, Bruce “Woody” Elwood Vann, Jr.; his grandson, Abel Wayne Vann of Franklin, VA; two sisters, Theresa Miyares and husband, Blas of Spartanburg, SC, and their children Lauren Miyares, Christina Miyares and Blas Miyares, III; and Pamela Davenport of Raleigh, NC, and her son Tommy Davenport; and a brother, Billy Vann of Raleigh, NC and his daughter, Veronica Ray.

A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 1 p.m. at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Anita Thompson officiating.
