AHOSKIE – Henry Jackson Dilday, 90, of 1310 US Hwy 13 South, died Tuesday, February 8, 2022 in his home where he was cared for by his family.

Mr. Dilday was born in Hertford County on March 28, 1931, and was the son of the late Clifton Henry and Martha Godwin Dilday.

Retired from the Public Works Department of the Town of Ahoskie, he was a faithful member of Brantley’s Grove Baptist Church where he had served on the Board of Deacons and as Director of Sunday School. Other enjoyments included his love of hunting and fishing.

Surviving is his wife of 67 years, Marian Elizabeth Dunning Dilday; a daughter, Cindy Nowell (husband, Bill) of Ahoskie; a son, Ken Dilday (wife, Cyndy) of Windsor; three grandsons, Duane Nowell (wife, Leigh), Nathan Dilday (wife, Tricia), and Patrick Dilday (wife, Kristen); and three great-grandchildren, Will Nowell, Max Daniel, and Bree Farmer.

A service of remembrance will be held Sunday, February 13, 2022 at 2 p.m. in Brantley’s Grove Baptist Church and will be conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Ward. A private burial will be in the Ahoskie Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family in the social hall of the church immediately following the service, or other times at the residence.
