WOODLAND – Jeffrey Scott Tyler, age 56, of Chestnut Street, passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at his home with his wife by his side.

Jeff was born on April 27, 1965 to Herbert Marion “Ted” Tyler and Kathryn Jackson Tyler in Rocky Mount, NC. He worked with Resinall as a maintenance mechanic for many years. He was a simple man that loved his family deeply and enjoyed the time he spent with them. He enjoyed being at home and rocking in the rocking chair. Jeff loved music, especially Jimmy Buffet and Elvis, and enjoyed sitting around playing the guitar and drums. He was a courageous fighter until the end of his battle and will be missed by all.

He was preceded in death by father, Ted Tyler.

Left to cherish Jeff’s memory is his loving wife, Lori; his mother, Kathryn; two daughters, Tessa Tyler Thorne (Travis) of Rocky Mount, Brandy Harrell Burden (Earl Jones) of Aulander; son, Jason Handley (Somer) of Raleigh; ten grandchildren, Riley Suhr, Logan Suhr, Camden Suhr, Noah Hampel, Ty Handley, Van Handley, Jarrett Burden, Lauren Burden, Sadie Jones, and Stetson Thorne; his sister, Cindy Tyler Moore (Ted) of Rich Square; his brother, Bert Tyler (Tracy) of Rocky Mount; along with numerous extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends at any time at Jeff’s home and a celebration of life funeral service was held on Monday, February 7, 2022, at the Rich Square Baptist Church, Rich Square, with Rev. John Thompson officiating. The burial followed at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Rich Square.
