GATESVILLE, NC – Margaret Byrum Winslow Eure, 88, of 274 Harrell’s Church Road, died Friday, January 14, 2022 in her home, on her 71st wedding anniversary.

Mrs. Eure was born in Chowan County on October 19, 1933, and was the daughter of the late Kenneth Ray and Maebelle Privott Winlsow. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dempsey Lindburg “Lindy” Eure; her sister, Kathryn Ward; brothers, James Russell and Robert Ray Winslow; and by a grandson, Aaron Bradley Eure.

A homemaker, for many years, she and her husband were growers for Perdue Farms. She had also worked as a dietician in the former Louise Obici Memorial Hospital in Suffolk, VA, and had driven a bus for the Gates County Public School System. She was a member of Eure Christian Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Linda Schocklin (husband, Howard) of Palm Coast, FL, Robin Eure (husband, Buddy) of Kill Devil Hills, and Mary Kathryn Murray (husband, Joe) of Gatesville; two sons, Joe Eure (wife, Donna) of Marietta, GA and Kenny Eure (wife, Jennie) of Gatesville; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 18 at 2:00 p.m. in Eure Christian Church and will be conducted by her pastor, The Rev. Wade Bennett. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.

With the resurgence of the Covid Virus in the area, no formal visitation is planned; however, friends may visit the family at the graveside immediately following the service, or all other times at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the cemetery fund of Eure Christian Church, 872 NC Highway 137, Eure, NC 27935.
