WOODLAND – Kay Karmen Hollenbeck Flythe, age 90, passed away on December 25, 2021 at Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC.

Mrs. Flythe was born in Burley, Idaho on December 8, 1931, a daughter of the late Warren and Rheta Powers Hollenbeck. Kay was an active member of Woodland United Methodist Church, and the Woodland Women’s Club as long as her health permitted. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Besides her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Flythe, Sr.; a daughter, Lisa K. Flythe; and a brother, Warren Hollenbeck.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Rheta Cloutier and husband, Roger of Rocky Mount, NC, Viva Brown and husband, Tommy of Rich Square, NC; two sons, Isaac Flythe of Woodland, and Joseph Flythe Jr. and wife, Beth of Camden, NC; two grandsons, Benjamin Cloutier, and Jesse Flythe; three granddaughters, Samantha Smith, Amelia (Brock) Merritt, and Tabitha Flythe; three great grandsons, Shawn Smith, Chase Smith, and Aidan Smith; a sister, Kristine Frances of Page, AR; and a brother, Kim (Diane) Chermak of Riverside, CA.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Zion United Methodist Church in Conway, NC, with Rev. Carol Clark Taylor officiating.
