Chowan women’s basketball season opens Nov. 9

MURFREESBORO – The Chowan University women’s basketball team and head coach Lenise Stallings have released their 2021-22 schedule.

The Hawks posted a 7-8 overall record and a 7-7 Conference Carolinas mark to finish eighth in the league in Coach Stallings’ first season with the Blue and White.

Chowan will start the season on Nov. 9 in an exhibition at Norfolk State before opening the regular season against a pair of former league foes, Elizabeth City State (Nov. 16) and Virginia Union (Nov. 19) on the road.

The Hawks will then open league play on the road against Lees-McRae on Nov. 23 before ending the month at home against league newcomer UNC Pembroke on Nov. 30.

The month of December features the Hawks at home all month long as Erskine (Dec. 3), Emmanuel (Dec. 4), Barton (Dec. 7), Francis Marion (Dec. 15), and King (Dec. 18) come to Murfreesboro for league action.

Chowan will bring in the 2022 year with four straight road contests starting at UNC Pembroke on Jan. 4. The Hawks will travel to take on Converse (Jan. 7) and Belmont Abbey (Jan. 8) before wrapping up the road swing against Francis Marion on Jan. 11.

The Blue and White will return home for a rivalry game against Mount Olive on Jan. 13 before hitting the road once again for four straight games (Emmanuel on Jan. 15; Barton on Jan. 17; Southern Wesleyan on Jan. 21; and Erskine on Jan. 22).

The Hawks will have five straight home games to end the month of January and start of February (Lees-McRae on Jan. 29); North Greenville on Feb. 4; Converse on Feb. 5; Belmont Abbey on Feb. 11; and Southern Wesleyan on Feb. 12).

Chowan wraps up the regular season with a trio of games on the road (North Greenville on Feb. 19; Mount Olive on Feb. 22; and King on Feb. 25).

The Conference Carolinas Championship will start on Mar. 1 with the first round games held on the higher seed’s campus before moving to Spartanburg, S.C. and Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium on the campus of Wofford.
