HALIFAX – A Northampton County man was charged Friday with two counts of motor vehicle larceny and two counts of possession of stolen vehicles.

The charges against 48-year-old Christopher Mayle of Pleasant Hill stem from an investigation by Detective R.B. Biggerstaff of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and Agent Hannah Warren of the North Carolina License and Theft Bureau of the state division of motor vehicles.

Chief Deputy Scott Hall of the sheriff’s office said two vehicles were stolen and sold for scrap.

Both vehicles, he added, were taken from abandoned residences.

The sheriff’s office received the reports between July 21 and August 24. One vehicle was taken from the Faucette Store Road area of Littleton and the other off Clover Lane in the Halifax area.

The investigation linked Mayle to the crimes.

Mayle received a $10,000 bond and October 13 court date.
