AULANDER – Mary Evelyn Bischoff, 90, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Vidant Bertie Hospital.

She was born in Midland, GA to Raymond Cleveland and Mary Elizabeth Law Gunn on October 18, 1930.

As the spouse of a military man, Mary Evelyn was used to moving frequently and had lived in many cities and states including Staten Island, NY and Kodiak, AK before finally retiring to Aulander, NC in 1999.

Mary Evelyn loved her family and relished in decorating her home and yard and being a welcoming hostess for holidays and special events. She was selfless and generous in all things.

Mary Evelyn is predeceased by her husband, John Frederick Bischoff, Jr. and her son, Thurman Lawrence Knight, III. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Kaye Knight Lies and Jean Ellen Knight Nobles (Ricky); and grandchildren, Timothy James Knight, Jillian Knight Rogge (Matt), Ansel Shuster, Tara Elizabeth Forsythe (Keith), Shawn David Lies (Kimberly), Taylor Anne Lies Terry (Michael), and Jennifer Nicole Faw. Her great-grandchildren include Griffin (“Fin”) McCoy and Walker Niel Terry, and Annie Cecilia Lies. Mary Evelyn was a member of Aulander Baptist Church.

The family will have a private celebration of life at a later date.
